Playing for change...

I found this organization by chance two years ago while searching for new music on the internet, and this nonprofit creates music that is more than just lyrics and sounds. This music has a message, like all should. The organizers and muscians are people who have sought out to bring the world closer by something, like we are learning in class, that everyone can relate to and understand. After our first two classes, it has been made apparent that music connects everyone and shares something that is greater than ourselves. I believe the whole purpose behind Utah's performing was to connect all different types people to share a common goal: preserving and changing history. I hope you enjoy the tunes from this nonprofit organization; the videos are simply amazing at what they accomplish collaborating together. The songs may be familiar and ordinary, but the collaboration of voices is the thing that makes this movement extraordinary. All of the performers have never met each other and all are recorded separately across the globe.
"Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race. And with this truth firmly fixed in our minds, we set out to share it with the world." (http://playingforchange.com/journey/introduction)
